Things (films etc.) that remind you of Salvia?

This is the place to discuss Salvia divinorum, splendins, and the other psychoactive salvias.

Things (films etc.) that remind you of Salvia? -

Post by WorldBuilder » Thu Mar 12, 2009 1:18 pm

I searched using many keywords, and have not found a topic like this, though I thought I may have seen a thread like this before.

In any case, I'm sure you all get reminded of Salvia from various movies, pictures, songs, etc. in your day to day lives, and I think it would be great to share some of these.

Last night, I saw a movie that seemed to have a very similar theme to some of my trips. It was called "Lost in Oblivion". The curious thing about this movie is, the majority of it actually takes place in dreams that you believe to be absolutely true, but are quite surprised when the character wakes up and sees where he/she really is. The first thing that reminded me of Salvia was when the director of the film (the film they were making in the movie) got extremely frustrated by an alarm that appeared to come from someones watch, but was nowhere to be found on the set, and it just kept on going. Pretty soon, it becomes apparent that this alarm wasn't even in the realm they were looking for it in, and was actually what was set to wake the director up. I have had many experiences when I try to achieve something in the Salvia realm, like find the reason behind something, only to find out when I am back in reality that it wasn't in the Salvia realm at all. Throughout the movie, there are many similar Salvia-like themes.

A great film, I recommend it to all. (It was from 1995, so I'm somewhat doubtful that it's creators have smoked Salvia).

Does anyone have any other things to share that reminded them of Sally?

A commercial that played a lot a little while back. The way it's sort of pixelated reminded me of some of my Salvia trips. Also the way the man waves, beckoning is so familiar. Great juice too

To date, only one film has come close to representing Salvia space for me and that's Fantastic Planet (IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070544/ ). It was so memorable for me that I even made a review for it and making the connections to the abstract, allegorical, and metaphorical aspects of the base reality constructed in the film that can remind one of Salvia's reality (which you can read up here: http://peaceandloveism.com/blog/?p=13 ).

Just got done watching Alice in Wonderland for the first time in forever. It's so much more meaningful to me now than when I was a kid. I saw many connections with my own Salvia experiences. It's hard to believe the story was written without somw psychedelic influence. It's my new favorite movie.

Speaking of Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton's is my most anticipated new movie. He is definitely one of my favorite directors and I can't wait to see his take on the story. I imagine it will be much darker than the disney version :D Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter? Oh, the anticipation!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_i...nd_(2010_film)
"As reported in the March 2009 edition of D23 magazine, the movie will incorporate many characters and narrative elements from Carroll's books but is essentially a new story, Alice's return to Wonderland. Tim Burton states that "given what this story is, if Alice had this adventure as a little girl and now she’s going back all these years later, it’s a bit overgrown...[and there’s] a slightly haunted quality to Wonderland, even though it’s got strong elements of color." She is now 17 years old and someone "who doesn't quite fit into Victorian society and structure." This journey "becomes a rite of passage as she discovers her voice and herself."
Surprise, a "slightly haunted quality" from Tim Burton :D I can't wait.
