Any of you know how feasible it is to send a mass email from my personal email address (an old one I don't use anymore).
I was able to generate the email of all members into a single file. But dont want to get hammered by the server for overloading it.
Thinking of using Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail to send it.
Thoughts?

Nice you got the email addresses... there should be no problems on mass-mailing with gmail or similar service. Meanwhile the number of registered users here is increasing day by day. I suggest writing a main page for this domain (which actually doesn't exist) and put a big advice so that it can be catched by the search engine crawlers. We also need a logo, BTW.

As for the conversion of old the posts, I worked in the past days and:

1) integrated attachments given by ixtli
2) wrote forum indexes for all threads with titles, dates and users
3) wrote index of all forums
4) stripped html files out of unnecessary things (broken buttons, broken links, missing java and so on, around 30% space saved)

I will upload a complete working offline archive once ixtli will gave us users' avatars.

BTW, ixtli, if you are reading this, with UTF-8 charset there are still strange characters.

So I tried sending the mass email from a separate address; but I haven't received the email yet in my inbox.
Not sure how long it takes to email thousands ;-)
I noticed the vBulletin generator did not place commas in between each email address, you think that may be the issue?

If anyone gets the email about the move sent today, let me know.

PS. Nice work unsigned!

I just checked and NO email received as of now. The missing comma (or semicolon?) might be the problem but you should have received a delivery failure message.

I've uploaded a new version of the edot threads I've been working in the past days, here is the link:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KM2R6CK2

As said in my previous post, it features a starting index with all forums and separate forum thread indexes. I tried to preserve the graphical layout of vBulletin while stripping out all the unnecessary (and lo longer working) html tags.

Attachments are not included (the download file would be too big) so if you have ixtli's file, just unzip it in the "attachment" directory. BTW, I've noticed there are about 20Megs of unlinked attachments, perhaps due to deleted message posts. I will delete them in the final version.

Unzip and start from "index.html".

Let me know if something is missing or wrongly placed.

P.S. as said before, there are no avatars yet.

I'm replacing the archive I have up with the version that unsigned_char72 made. Archives will be offline for a little while.

Ok, the indexed version of the old site is uploaded to the archive. I'll work on adding the attachments and a search engine next.

I did another little step forward. I recovered all user's avatars from entheogen.com (BTW it's still active) and put them in our offline backup, so now we have user images in the message posts.

Here is the new version of the archive:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z62JPG8F

unzip it and replace the old one (notice the new "avatars" directory). I've also fixed some bugs lo and there.
