Raw Cacao addiction? WTF?
Raw Cacao addiction? WTF?
So, I fell in love with Cacao. Raw cacao, just eating beans 20-40 of them.
Lifts me up like nothing else, I love it.
And then I google it and see there's a bunch of side effects like long-term addiction ("one of the most addictive substances in the world") side effects like paranoia, anxiety etc.
Now, this is not one source, but a bunch of sources.
Now, I'm guessing this is simply bullshit.
Anyone thinks/knows raw cacao is bad?
This is an example of such an article: http://www.holistichelp.net/blog/is-raw ... y-healthy/

Re: Raw Cacao addiction? WTF?
I'd say it's as much bullshit as my quote above from the linked article is bullshit. i never experienced any slightest "high", neither from chocolate nor pure cocoa. if ingested enough cocoa it's maybe like some coffee or tea, a little different, ok, but that's about it for me. or does "raw" mean green or unroasted? is there something that gets lost by processing? This is why chocolate makes you feel so good and is so addictive
Of course, eating 100g at once of cocoa beans doesn't have to be very healthy ... hypes, anti-hypes, oh blessed folly

Bhagwan told me not to worry. If i do it'll make me sorry. Alright.

I see people at the store returning cans for cocoa .........they are kids though! No seriously what they catagorize as addiction is weird. They say ciggarettes are worse than heroin. The fact is obviously you would rather your kids smoke than hit the vein but because most need to intake tobacco like every 30 min. and can go without stopping for like 50 years and that more people in society do it so its widespread and more die from it, its worse! You have to know what variables they are considering. For one thing almost every woman on the planet craves it. Anyone I know that has used to much extract of it has learned a jittery lesson. Its sold in every food store ect.
Re: Raw Cacao addiction? WTF?
We're all different I guess. Cacao (you're right, it's roasted actually) really makes me feel happier and concentrated. I get a nice little rush and I really enjoy it.
What made it even more appealing to me was that I thought it was super healthy.
Seems like this is not so true.
There's a guy here: http://renegadehealth.com/blog/2008/11/ ... o-incident
who talks about his experience with long term cacao use (year and a half I think). He ended up with a rash on his skin, bad liver etc etc.
In the comments below I see most people report a similar experience.
I guess I'll take it a bit easier on the cacao.

maybe the health issues are more connected to the mentioned funghi, so boiling might be better. as far as the funghi are harmed by that?
what i actually found quite nice was mixing pure cocoa dekokt with strong green tea, but it almost gives me kind of a little crash, afterwards
additionally mixed with theanine and chili (theanine and chili can also just be t&wd) it's great, but altogether better for winter - gives me strong heat sensations

These guys are mostly raw food dieters, so the whole mineral depletion could be connected to it.
Not sure, I guess the best way to find out would be to have the mineral test and see what's happening, like the guy in the video said.
Green tea and cacao is definitely a great mix
. Love to mix it with Yerba Mate too.
