The Gas Pipe is the shop you are looking for.
I think it is on 5th or 6th Street just west of I-35.

Re: Growing cacti in northern climates - An Alternative to Pots? -

They will get snow and frost here. Temperatures can easily get to the teens, so they cannot stay outside. I thought that I might experience more growth in the ground than in pots, making the effort of planting and digging worthwhile. No offense meant or taken, but it is this specific option for whic...

Growing cacti in northern climates - An Alternative to Pots? -

So I have my raised beds, and I got to thinking that I might put one to use to get greater cacti growth with less effort overall than the usual parade of pots in and out each year. The idea is to plant certain members of the cactus collection into the raised bed after the last frost and leave them t...

Re: Favorite Cactus to Grow and Why? -

I like Austrocylindropuntia - the longest genus name of a cactus.

Very water tolerant, remarkably fast growing, a good grafting stock, and a column that likes to branch.

It has sausage-shaped leaves, spines, and glochids everything that a cactus could possibly have.

Yesterday, one of my cats, despite being smaller than Mr. Woodchuck, was chasing him. I was delighted to see this, ...

I have a spot like that on mine, but left it alone since the skin was intact despite the flesh beneath being black.

The spot seems to have stabilized.

Re: Urine as fertilizer? -

What I have read about this subject is that the urine should be either used quickly after the dilution or after 4 weeks after the dilution. There is little ammonia in fresh or well aged urine. With the intermediate aged urine, there is ammonia present which can burn the plants' roots. Another benefi...

Re: Can salvia be adjusted to 100% indirect light? -

I have grown my salvia for 3 years now on the side of the house that gets almost no direct sunlight. They are very happy there. Plenty of scattered light and a nice damp environment. I almost never have to water, even if the rains come a week apart. The lack of direct sunlight on the soil allows the...

Re: Big Pharmaceutical Companies and Salvia -

I cannot see how any major pharmaceutical company would care about salvia. How large is the potential market for kappa opioid agonists anyway? Probably not large enough to recover the costs of clinical trials, marketing, and development. And even if there was some value to them, the value is so smal...
