Cross pollination attempt

Post by unsigned_char72 » Fri Feb 06, 2015 1:41 pm

It's February and S. divinorum has still some flowers attached from the past flowering season. On the other side of the garden, a heavily pruned S. gesneriiflora has started to put her new flowers.

But hey! why not attempt a cross pollination? If I remember well they both have chromosome number n=11, so hybridization should be possible. We would get a possibly psychoactive Salvia hybrid!

To my knowledge this is the first time a human tries to hybridize S. divinorum with another salvia. Chances are very low, but someone had to try it before or later.
