trimming spines -

Post by galulyah » Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:42 pm

Hey all,

I germinated about 300 T. Bridg sees about 6 months ago, and I didn't realize how menacing the spines will turn out to be. I was thinking about how I was going to handle them when they get bigger and was wondering if it is possible to trim the spines down to a centimeter or so. Will this harm the cactus?

Thanks,
D

Instead of cutting the spines, perhaps you can use some tweezers. You gotta be very careful though.
I dont know if trimming the spines will harm the cactus. It shouldnt though...its like trimming your chest hair...it doesnt hurt you.

Well, I've been doing some research and talking to a few people on different boards...It seems it would most likely hurt it. Looks like a good pair of gloves would be better.

Happy growing,

You can also use several pages of newspaper to handle the cacti.
