But there is a BIG problem with such a premise----the quantum physicists do not KNOW what matter is and they dont know what consciousness is. That is a mystery. And what we DO know is we are here in nature and as nature.

What worries me about the philosophy that 'all is illusion' is that it plays into the hands of the transhumanists who try and claim that life is like 'virtual reality' and that we can do any thing we want--because it is all illusion.
So calling something an illusion as as derogatory as claiming it is 'fallen', and/or needs-putting-right-by-elite-man. It is all the patriarchal mindset which cannot and will not understand and feel that nature is sacred.
Question away. haha They come from years of entheogen use, reading, meditating, living with nature and surviving only on what nature provides, 'drugs', family, friends, strangers, coincidences, epiphanies, God, Light, Shadow, Love, anger, confusion, existence as a whole from my perspective, deja vu's, movies, tv, dreams, imagination, orgasm...it goes on. I lived a good portion of my adult life contemplating existence in nature. Living outdoors, often with no tent or anything. Loved it. I am going camping this weekend(at least, it is planned! Pray no black widow bites this time!).

moonbreeze, you seem to put a lot of YOUR perspective on other peoples motives. That is a really bad habit to do. Lighten up and dont go jinxing yourself. Sounds like you need to step back and check YOUR premises, you will most likely find at least one of them is wrong(thanks again Ayn Rand!).
we can do any thing we want--because it is all illusion

CAUTION, OPINIONS AHEAD. TAKE THEM AS OPINIONS.
That is silly. We are IN the illusion now. That DOES NOT mean there are no repercussions to our actions! The veil is just as real as you feeling pain by getting kicked in the groin, but it IS an illusion. When you touch a hot pan on the stove, what do you do? When someone hurts you, what do you do? When you are afraid, what do you do? Why? ;) So you dont get burned or hurt any further, duh. lol

Putting right by elite man? Again, your putting YOUR twist on things.

I just say it as I find it. I am always prepared to listen to someone and their ideas, but just say what I feel about whatever. IF you are secure in your ideas why worry?

WHY insist on calling life 'illusion'? Like you say if you get real hurt is it an illusion then? No it is dead 'real'. If someone said it is BOTH maybe I would feel more accepting. But I have seen what the philosophy 'life is illusion' does

See, your still affixing YOUR interpretation of what "I" mean by 'illusion'.

Its not like fake, no shit you break your arm it hurts. Ever woke up from a "fake" nightmare? That illusion felt real enough you woke up sweating in tears and screaming for help. How fake was that? Not very, but it WAS an illusion, you WERE NOT BEING CHASED BY A GIANT PINK REPTOID ON ROLLER SKATES! It was a DREAM! Image

Good point. Dreams can seem real indeed. On recent one I had was thinking that we'd been robbed and then even half awake thinking 'is it true...??' and then realization ahhhhhhhhhhh no it was a dream, and relief. So that dream WAS real in the sense that as I was experieincing it it was real, and then I wake up.
you could then argue that daydreams coud be real, because i am imagining at the time being somewhere, etc. So what IS really real out of all this? I feel it is the abiding reality we are living now. A man loses his limbs in war--that is very real. He dreams that he is whole again. That is real for when he dreams but then he wakes up! THAT is the real he has to keep on living with. An abiding real till physical death.
[quotewiki on Maya(illusion)]Altogether there are "eight examples of illusion (the Tibetan sgyu ma translates Maya and also other sanskrit words for illusion): magic, a dream, a bubble, a rainbow, lightning, the moon reflected in water, a mirage, and a city of celestial musicians." [5]Understanding that what we experience is less substantial than we believe is intended to serve the purpose of liberation from ignorance, fear, and clinging and the attainment of enlightenment as a buddha completely dedicated to the welfare of all beings.

Maybe this will assist:

I prefer Alan Watts chosen interpretation of 'Maya' which is magic. I have always had the sense of the magic of nature from when I was a little kid, and I've explained that this was driven out of me in the short/long years from about 10--------15 whereupon I discovered L S D:) and it all came back reborn!!

I have trouble with the Eastern philosophies--including Buddhism's--disdain for the Imagination. They usually tell us to 'meditate' and negate imagination. Not be seduced by it. And it is THIS I see as the same old patriarchal fear. It is fear of the 'hero' being taken over by the 'feminine' who --in patriarchal belief systems--is always assocated with the 'unconscious', the 'dark' and instinctual. I see this in Buddhism whose goal it is is to escape from the 'wheel of death and rebirth'

I like Surrealism though8-)

See, again. Cultural mis-interpretations.

When I meditate, I try and 'negate' my imagination(for lack of better words). Which, allows your SUBCONSCIOUS to step in and do the imagining FOR YOU! Do you understand? You dont 'stop imagining', you just shut down the front machine so the back machine can do its job better. lol

Its not 'disdain' for imagination, its more like rational WILLING of the dismissal of all the 'illusions' we see with our 'real' eyes and bodies - allowing that which 'is not' to become 'what is' - the magic, the Aether, the 'other side'. :D

Do not all the major religions offer an escape from the wheel of 018? Is not that exactly what Heaven is told to be?

Really, it seems like your on a carousel just spinning and youve gotten very dizzy and should get off, but your trying to push the limits...see, you will only get 'so dizzy' then your just sitting there feeling nauseas. It seems like you should step of the carousel you have built yourself and look again at the way others seek enjoyment and knowledge. ;)
