Meyers Lemons - Anyone else love these things? I guess its a Chinese lemon x orange.

Any other crosses or just plain weird fruit that's delicious?

Meyer lemon olive oil. Sautee broccoli and garlic in it. You will thank me later.

persimmons are totally weird. just sayin.

we have ground cherries that grow here. I love those things. Don't know how common they are in the rest of the world.

what about Paw-paw fruit? Around here they're call hobo bananas by the older folks. I guess the hobos used to eat them and throw out the seed(s) while riding in trains, thus they commonly grow around the train tracks. Never gotten to try an actual paw paw fruit myself tho. Yet again I don't know how common they are else where.

no more walmart in spikey hat land, we freaked them totally out of here ... ;D
not much of a loss, besides that they had a good sortiment of american sweets and the likes *sigh*
regarding everything else the sortiment was totally germanized.

oh, persimmons, ok, that's more familiar :)

I have seen the Meyers Lemons at the local store, nomad was talking about these. The family goes paw paw picking once a year, they are yummy. I planted some paw paw seeds but none germinated. Conditions must be just right. Found them here in PA. 2 ground cherries growing in my garden now, none are ripe yet. Picked them up at the local heirloom seed plant sale at a farm down the street. Would love some recipes or recommendations of how to use them!

Teeko I missed your original post/? I'm not entirely sure what the scientific name for the local ground cherries here but I know they are in the genus Physalis. The ones I've had seemed really sweet and tasty. It seems that they are not always described as such tho. Don't know if that would indicate taste differences in different species or not. No clue really, I just happen to have a friend that has them growing wild around his house in what was formerly pothole prairie. He also said that his father grew them in town but a different kind/var.
