How to get etheogens recognized as religious tools in US?

This is where to discuss the legality of entheogens, entheogen law, anarchy, politics, etc.

How to get etheogens recognized as religious tools in US?

Brazil, and a few other countries, have this written in law, that mushrooms, at least, are legal when used in a religious context. At least, that's what I'm reading on this keen new wiki I chanced across:
http://psychonautwiki.org/wiki/Psilocin#Legal_issues

MAPS seems to be doing great work and I mean to donate to them regularly.
But, just out of curiosity, what sort of battle would need to be fought and what form, would it take?

To eventually have these sacraments fully legalized?
Do you think it's impossible or just improbable?

I had given up on marijuana legalization (after 10 long years of campaigning) and sure enough (as soon as I quit 'campaigning') they start to be legalized in different states. ha ha ha, anyways...

Thanks,
ADeeperSilence (for now, hoping to get my old name back!)

Technically, in the United states, the first amendment guarantees freedom of religious practice, and if entheogens are a piece of your religious practice, then constitutionally you already have the right to consume them...

It seems repugnant that we must convince the modern system to grant us rights which we are already promised...

Shulgin briefly comments on the matter in the "extensions and commentary" section for the dipropyltryptamine entry in TIHKAL:

There is a rather remarkable religious group known as the Temple of the True Inner Light, in New York City, which has embraced as its Eucharist DPT which they refer to as a powerful Angel of the Host. Their communion is confirmed by either the smoking or the drinking of the sacrament, and they have been totally unbothered by any agency of the Federal Government, as far as I know. It is not as if they were unknown. Quite on the contrary, I had on one occasion received a request for information on the drug from a reporter who was writing a story on DPT and its use in the church. I asked him just how he had gotten my name, and he told me that he was given it by someone within the DEA. Someone, sometime, should write an essay on contemporary religions, as to why DPT has flown, why peyote forever struggles, and LSD and marijuana have bombed out, when tied to religion. Is there something about a faith being an "approved" religion? Who gives his approval? Who decides the applicability of the first amendment which explicitly states that, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." -shulgin;TIHKAL
