Re: Potentiation: how to intensify an experience -

When is the combo safe? The reports are so mixed that I'm just not sure what to say about it. Certainly seems interesting, but less straightforward than the other stuff I mentioned. Maybe I'll devote an entire article to it later so I can explore its multiplicity a little.

Re: Insight -

I highly doubt you'd be able to approximate any of the relevant effects that way. This is one of the problems with the focus on neurotransmitters... it severely oversimplifies matters and encourages false conclusions.

Re: Drug Misuse is Bad, Mmkay? -

The legal and political climate as regards drugs is very different in Canada (where I live) than in the States (where I assume you live, hence reference to cannabis being "schedule one" -- in Canada, cannabis is "schedule II"). We have prohibition here too, but it's not taken nearly as seriously. Fo...

Re: Drug Misuse is Bad, Mmkay? -

Well tea shares a lot more characteristics we would normally be willing to include in the category of "drug," at least if it's taken for energy (caffeine) or similar. A better example for your point would be something like, say, putting oregano flakes on your pizza. What I referred to was not a defi...

Re: Insight -

A feminist critique of Jung's theories seems frankly unnecessary, and I say that as someone who's all into feminist critique. He's very explicit in saying, after all, that anybody's model of psyche is inevitably a model of their own psyche and unlikely to be transposable to others. Apply whatever fr...

Re: Drug Misuse is Bad, Mmkay? -

tobacco and alcohol *are* drug, cannabis and salvia are not, in the sense that they are non toxic and non addictive inebriant The etymology of "drug" just refers to dried herbs. That you would define drug as toxic and addictive, and then accuse me of giving a bad name to drugs, is pretty deeply iro...

Re: Drug Misuse is Bad, Mmkay? -

What's not tautological is the extent and specificities of that. The title is obvious and that's kind of the point. That is, expressing the tautology effectively communicates "I do not deny that which is obvious." This could only be meaningful in a context in which it might otherwise appear that the...
