Re: Kava alcohol tincture HELP! (fat)

Sigma A. sells perfectly clean acetone for this purpose =) If you use quality kava to begin with, you won't have to worry about nausea. Most extracts are made from scraps and chips (parts of the plant that are higher in nausea causing components), or strains like Tudei that are undesirable and unabl...

Re: Alpinia Zerumbet

Both dihydro-5,6-dehydrokawain, (DDK) and 5,6-dehydrokawain (Desmethoxyyangonin) have been isolated from A. Zerumbet. The latter is an MAOI. Yangonin which may or may not be naturally present in the plant, but may be a product of the breakdown of its desmethoxy version, also binds, albeit very weakl...

Re: Alpinia Zerumbet

Yes the plants are easily available. The ones that I see however are the variegated ones. I honestly don't know what the constituents are of these commercially available ones. I do have two of them growing anyhow so that when the rhizomes are mature I can run a GCMS and compare it with the non varie...

Alpinia Zerumbet

Thought I would share a bit of my research again. I hope you enjoy. 20121024_130522 (Small).jpg This was found 3 weeks ago in Oahu in the jungle on near the big Manoa mountain. Alpinia Zerumbet is one of the only other plants that contains Kavalactones. This is interesting to me because in studying ...

Re: Kava Crystals

Haha, I will be posting some of my other finds here shortly. I hate to post discoveries when I am also a vendor of these discoveries... seems like a conflict. I'll post without promoting I suppose. I have a few others that I'll post up shortly, I think the board will be impressed with a couple of my...

Re: Non-toxic variety of calamus

Some good Points Dr. Zzz I grow the "Toxic" variety in my back yard. I chew the root on cold winter days. I have yet to notice any toxicity. I highly doubt that it would have the medicinal history that it does throughout every region that it grows, if it were truly as toxic as it is made out to be.

Re: Kava dosage

2 tablespoons is good. I think using milk and lecithin is completely unnecessary. Don't use cold milk if you are going to do it because by lowering the temperature, you are offsetting whatever potential gain you may have realized by adding the milk. I would personally throw it in a blender for 3 min...

Kava Crystals

Hey guys, I just got finished doing a bit of Kava chemistry and figured I would share the results. I did a basic aqueous extract on high potency Vanuatu kava. I let it soak for 24 hours and then strained it through several silk screens, first a 160 mesh, all the way up to a 305 mesh. After the 305 m...

Re: Kava again

The lemon extract you speak of is a quality kava product for sure. He makes a chocolate one as well that is formidable in potency.
